Have you ever denied climate change? Maybe you are one of the victims of the views of scientists who are skeptical of the issue.

A Greenpeace investigation revealed that two scientists from top US universities could be paid to construct climate change denials.

The results of this investigation reveal another dirty act among scientists in the issue of climate change, in which they are actually the ones who are not constructive.

Previously, researchers from the Harvard Smithsonian for Astrophysics who are also climate change deniers were revealed to have received funding from Exxon Mobile, the American Petroleum Company, and the Souther Company as much as 1.25 million US dollars.

Based on Soon’s view, the current climate change is due to changes in solar activity, and that’s a natural thing.

The two scientists who were revealed to be getting paid to deny climate change this time were William Happer of Princeton University and Frank Clemente of Pennsylvania State University.

Greenpeace framed the two scientists by sending e-mails, asking the scientists to make publications to deny climate change for a fee.

Greenpeace disguised itself as a leading oil and gas company from the Middle East and a coal company from Indonesia.

In an e-mail, Greenpeace asked Happer to write about the negative impact of climate change negotiations in Paris.

Happer agreed and asked for a fee of 250 US dollars per hour and a total of 8,000 US dollars to write a paper for 4 days. He asked for the fee to be given to the CO2 Coalition, a kind of think tank for climate change deniers.

In his e-mail, Happer said that his articles may not be published in high-standard scientific journals, but they can still outsmart themselves by entering journals whose reviewers are affiliated with him.

“Puritans may think it’s not peer review, but I think it’s OK to call it peer review,” Happer said.

Meanwhile, Greenpeace asked Clemente to refute the results of a study on the deadly impact of coal in Indonesia. Clemente agreed and demanded $15,000 for a 10-page paper or $6,000 for an opinion article.

According to Clemente, it doesn’t matter if his name is cited as professor emeritus at Pennsylvania State University and covers up the sources of funding for the paper.

“There is no requirement to list a US financier. My research and articles have been endorsed by the government, trade associations, universities, the private sector, and are all published in my own name,” he said.

“I am very proud of the results of my research and believe that clean coal technology is the path to cheap and affordable energy, meeting energy shortages, and a clean environment,” he added.

In total, Greenpeace lobbied 7 scientists. A total of 5 other scientists refused on the grounds of time or did not answer e-mails at all.

Greenpeace announced the results of the investigation this week, in the midst of COP 21 in Paris, and moments before Happer appeared on the forum.

Happer in his e-mail confirmed that CO2 is indeed beneficial. “The climate conference in Paris is based on the premise that CO2 is a pollutant. That is totally wrong. More CO2 will actually be beneficial,” he said. (Yunanto Wiji Utomo – ed)
